ART CCA
THURSDAYS
The Art Department at DLD has built a strong reputation for excellence, with many students each year progressing to leading art institutions across London, including the University of the Arts London, London College of Fashion, and The Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL.
This CCA lets students work in a varaity of artistic mediums including paint, pencil, textiles, clay and more and is perfect for someone looking to improve their skills in a creative subject, or just create art for the fun of it.
ART Portfolio Workshop
THURSDAYS
Build a portfolio that tells your story and showcases your strengths. In this interactive workshop, students will learn how to curate projects, present their work effectively, and create a portfolio that stands out. Whether you're starting from scratch or refining an existing portfolio, you'll leave with practical strategies, actionable feedback, and a clearer understanding of how to highlight your skills, experience, and impact.
This CCA goes beyond simply producing art, providing all students with the opportunity to create, curate and present a professional-looking portfolio to schools, colleges, universities and potential employers.
BAND
WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS
Band CCA is a great place to develop your musical talent and is open to musicians of all abilities.
We meet twice each week and you can come to one session or both.
Make friends, learn new creative skills and develop confidence.
We also offer the opportunity to perform at various events like the Live Lounge and the end of term shows.

Our basketball session takes place locally at the Castle Centre. Offering students of all year groups and ability levels the chance to take part in fast-paced, engaging training. Sessions focus on developing key skills through a mix of drills, conditioning, and full-court matches.
The emphasis is on enjoyment, teamwork, and personal improvement, helping students build confidence, and a strong understanding of the game while staying active and involved in a sporting environment.

We play board games. New and old. Come along, make new friends and have some fun. No prior knowledge of board games is necessary.
CARROM
TUESDAYS
A carrom board is a tabletop game that originated in South Asia and is widely played in countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. It is played on a square wooden board with four pockets located at each corner. The objective of the game is to use a striker disc, flicked with the fingers, to hit smaller pieces called carrom men into the pockets.
The game typically involves two or four players, who take turns aiming and striking the pieces. Points are scored by successfully pocketing the carrom men, and there is also a special piece called the “queen,” which carries additional rules and value. The smooth surface of the board is usually powdered to reduce friction, allowing the pieces to glide easily.
Carrom requires a combination of precision, control, and strategic thinking, making it both a recreational and competitive game enjoyed by players of all ages.
Skills : hand–eye coordination, concentration and focus, strategic thinking, problem-solving, patience and self-discipline, cognitive and interpersonal abilities.

Students will have the chance to learn the game, make new friends playing, and even prepare for the House Chess competition.

At the club, we share the music, history, arts, fashions, culture and food of our home countries, learning more about each other and the places we come from.

Geoguesser
The DLD Dragons is an exciting esports CCA that gives students the opportunity to play competitive video games against other schools and colleges. It’s a great way to play games and to have fun, but there are a few things you might think about before deciding if it’s the right CCA for you.
1). We play games in tournaments, which means we’re looking for teams of people who play the following games ONLY: Rocket League, League of Legends and Valorant. We don’t play COD. We don’t play CS:GO.
2). We play matches almost every Wednesday in term time between October and May. These are organised fixtures that are part of a tournament; if we can’t put out a full team of players, we have to forfeit the match. If you can’t make Wednesdays, or you don’t like the sound of playing every week, this might not be the CCA for you.
In summary, if you’re looking for a team-based CCA with an element of competition in Valorant, League of Legends or Rocket League, and you can commit to playing every week: we’d love to have you along.
DLD IN THE COMMUNITY
MONDAYS in person 4pm-6pm
We are looking for friendly and engaging volunteers to support our weekly tutoring sessions. As a tutoring volunteer, you will enable us to support young people with their studies who might not have support at home or school. The sessions for young people ages 10-16 years provide a safe and friendly space to do homework, go over concepts and learning and do revision. Your time will make a huge impact on young people who will benefit from academic support.
In person sessions will be held at the Coin Street neighbourhood centre in Waterloo with refreshments and materials provided.
Induction and training opportunities will be provided.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH
THURSDAYS, from JANUARY ONWARDS
Duke of Edinburgh runs all year round and students can join it at any time and at any stage (Bronze, Silver or Gold).
The award gives young people credit for the things they already do, as well as allowing them the chance to learn new skills.
Students enrolled on the Bronze pathway take part in an Activity, develop s Skill and do Volunteering. They also take part in an Expedition in May. This is a two-day hiking and camping expedition in the UK.
All students enrolled in the DofE are expected to join this CCA from January until the time of the expedition in May.
EMBROIDERY
WEDNESDAYS
Embroidery CCA is an excellent opportunity to practice (or learn from scratch) a skill that helps develop mindfulness and offers an alternative to endlessly scrolling on social media. You will be provided with a sampler kit, which includes all the resources you need—needles, silks, a pattern, and an instruction booklet—to work through an embroidery project at your own pace.
Embroidery is a wonderful way to express your creativity, develop hand-eye coordination, and learn a new skill. Some members come with friends, while others come alone, but everyone has the opportunity to sit in a quiet space, enjoy some relaxing background music, and create something beautiful.
If you are thinking about joining mid-term, please speak with Ella first so she can arrange a kit ready for your arrival. Everyone is welcome!

Our school football session is a fun, inclusive programme open to students of all ability levels, from complete beginners to experienced players. Each session focuses on developing core skills through engaging drills and small-sided games.
For those looking to take their game further, we also have a competitive squad. This allows talented and committed players to challenge themselves and experience competitive matches against some of the top independent schools.

GLOBAL ISSUES SOCIETY

The Global Issues Society is a discussion-focused CCA that allows students to explore international relations and major global changes including peacebuilding, human rights, migration and global inequaity.
Each week, we explore the historical background of current events, consider different perspectives, and develop a deeper understanding of how countries, organizations, and communities respond to global crises.
HERODOTUS SOCIETY

The Herodotus Society is a history-focused CCA where students discuss, debate and evaluate interesting perspectives on history.
Students explore a variety of primary historical sources each term, and get the chance to produce a short video showcasing what they have discovered.

The session encourages positive habits, personal goal setting, and inclusive participation, whether students are new to fitness or already experienced. It’s a flexible environment designed to help everyone stay active, build confidence, and develop a commitment to health and physical activity.

At the pool table, we play exciting games like Killer, with prizes up for grabs each week. Whether you’re a seasoned player or picking up a cue for the first time, everyone is welcome.
We also run table tennis matches, including games like King of the Table and friendly league competitions, again with prizes to be won.

It is Tuesday after school and you are standing there thinking, “Go home… or do something amazing?” Choose amazing. Welcome to Robotics Club, every Tuesday from 4:10 to 5:00 in Room 2.63. No experience? Perfect choice, we mean it. All you need is curiosity, enthusiasm, and the ability to work with others.
At Robotics Club we design, build, code, test, and occasionally watch our robots fail in the most hilarious and dramatic ways possible and that’s exactly why we love it. We compete in both in‑house and external competitions, sharpen our logical and computational thinking, and level up our communication skills without even realising we are learning.
Along the way, you’ll make real friends, solve real problems, and have a lot of laughs while doing something genuinely creative and challenging. Robotics Club is not just about robots, it is about teamwork, exploration, trial and error, and enjoying the journey together.
So come to Room 2.63, make a slightly questionable decision, build something brilliant, and have fun without getting into trouble.

TRINITY DRAMA AWARD
WEDNESDAYS
Trinity Drama Club is a welcoming space where students can build confidence in public speaking and acting. Open to all year groups, the club focuses on developing performance skills through voice work, characterisation, and stage presence. Students take part in activities such as improvisation, scripted scenes, and speaking exercises, helping them to express themselves clearly and creatively. For those who wish to take their skills further, there is also the opportunity to enter a Trinity exam and gain a recognised drama qualification. Trinity Drama Club is ideal for anyone looking to overcome nerves, develop acting ability, and perform in a supportive environment.
